Family Mediation
Mediation Services - Here to help you communicate and find a resolution without going to court
Crombie Wilkinson is one of the few firms in North Yorkshire to offer a Mediation Service to help people work out arrangements for their children and their family finances.
Our mediators can help you deal with all or any of the questions relating to your separation or divorce in a non-judgmental but co-operative way. At our York, Selby and Malton offices we have specially adapted premises and separate waiting areas.
Family breakdown can be complex and understandably, highly emotional. We offer a safe environment in which to explore issues in an impartial and practical way. Whilst we cannot offer legal advice, we can give you legal information which will help you understand better the issues you face.
What are the advantages of family mediation?
- It can help you both to retain a channel of communication between you to enable you to work out arrangements. This is particularly important where there are children involved.
- Whilst the mediator manages the process, you will have the opportunity of setting out your own agenda.
- It allows you to retain control over the outcome.
- It is less expensive both emotionally and financially than going to Court or negotiating through Solicitors.
The “Mediation Information and Assessment Meeting” also known as MIAM, is a meeting that couples are now to attend to resolve their disputes when they want to issue particular specified family proceedings, for example divorce proceedings. The meeting takes place with a suitably qualified Family Mediator. For more information on any aspect of family mediation please do not hesitate to contact our Mediation Department.
We have Resolution, Specialist Resolution and Resolution Mediation lawyers to help ease the pain of family breakdown.
