Employee share schemes:

  • Posted

The deadline for registering employee share plans online and filing annual returns for employee share plans online is 6 July 2015. As registration can take more than a week, and annual returns cannot be filed until registration is completed, businesses should register now to avoid penalties for missing the filing deadline.

Every tax-advantaged share scheme (enterprise management incentives (EMI) option plans, company share option plans (CSOPs), SAYE option schemes and share incentive plans (SIPs)) must be registered separately, and a declaration of compliance with the relevant legislation made by the company. Non tax-advantaged plans can be registered separately, or under a single registration. Penalties apply for failure to file annual returns, and the tax benefits of tax-advantaged schemes will be affected if registration is not completed by 6 July 2015.
