Snowball Plantation

  • Posted

As a firm we have an official policy on Community and Social Responsibility (“CSR”) which is a way for our business to get involved in helping out with good causes in the local area.

On Tuesday afternoon (10 June 2013), seven of our staff took part in the York@50 event “Project Snowball” (helping to mark York University’s 50th anniversary) by going to the Snowball Plantation, a local facility owned and used by the Scouts, to help out with gardening and general maintenance.

Project Snowball - Transforming the facilities for the children of York

The Snowball Plantation at Stockton on the Forest is a popular children’s community activity centre which is used by local youth groups and is also the home of YUSU’s flagship volunteering project, Kids’ Camp, which has given a break to some of York’s most vulnerable children over the last 50 years.
As a Crombie Wilkinson team, our volunteers helped out by painting, barrowing, raking, laying wood chippings, shifting stones and rubble. It was thoroughly enjoyable, a good chance to do something useful, and a bit of fresh air and exercise as well. We think we were a pretty good team, and are looking forward to the next project we can get involved in!
