The 2011 Ryedale Open Art Exhibition

  • Posted

The 34th Ryedale Open Art Exhibition was held at the Milton Rooms, Market Place, Malton from 16th to the 23rd July 2011.

Over 200 works were shown by Ryedale artists and makers and there was something for everyone.  The exhibition included paintings, sculptures, metalwork, textiles, photography and ceramics.  Most of the works were for sale so that visitors could own an original piece of work by a local artist.

We were extremely pleased to sponsor the opening night of  the 34th Ryedale Open Art Exhibition that took place in our local town of Malton. The exhibition was a fantastic display of local, excellent talent and was enjoyed by many people and we were very proud to be associated with it. We thoroughly enjoyed attending the event and seeing the artists work on display”, said John Broadbridge, Director at the Crombie Wilkinson Solicitors Malton office.

Yvette Turnbull, the organiser of the event, said “It was a particularly well attended private view on the opening night with about 300 people in attendance. We had a really successful show too; we had over 1600 visitors during the week and sold many pieces of works which is pleasing in this economic climate. One visitor wrote in the visitor’s book that the exhibition made them ‘proud to be British’ and another that it was ‘the one exhibition I will not miss’.  We had visitors from Finland and Germany as well as from far-flung parts of the UK”.
