Make a Will and Dying Matters

  • Posted

We are taking part in the Awareness Week 18 25 May 2015

This year marks the 30th Anniversary of the opening of St Leonard’s Hospice in York. Along with a varied programme of fundraising activities, they are offering our local community the opportunity to have a Will written in exchange for a donation to St Leonard’s Hospice.

We are supporting St Leonard’s Hospice ‘Make a Will Week’ by offering our Will writing services free of charge, please state you would like to make a Will as part of St Leonard’s Hospice Make a Will week when you make your appointment*.  You need to make your appointment directly with us and it needs to be taken within a month of the campaign, book early to avoid disappointment.

In exchange for our Will writing services, supporters will be asked to make a suggested minimum donation of 75 for a basic will, 150 for a pair of mirror wills and 40 for a codicil to St Leonard’s Hospice. It is not expected the supporter will leave a legacy to the Hospice but if they did wish to do so, then this would be an added bonus and very welcomed by St Leonard’s Hospice.

Legacies are essential for St Leonard’s to maintain the unique quality of care they provide to their patients and their families.   It costs approximately 4 million each year to run St Leonard’s Hospice, this equates to over 460 for every hour of every day. The Hospice never makes any charge to patients, their families or carers.  The aim of the Hospice is to offer quality care, dignity and compassion for people facing the end of their life and every penny raised during Make a Will Week will make a direct contribution towards their work.

Please contact Brindley Meredith on 01904 624185 for more information. You can also come and see Brindley between 1.30pm and 2.30pm on Thursday 21 May at Parliament Street where St Leonard's Hospice are having a stall to discuss the importance of having a Will.

* Up to a maximum of 10 simple single/joint wills or codicil per solicitors practice, to be written within a month of the campaign launch.  When you ring up to make an appointment to make a Will and you want to support St Leonard’s Hospice Make A Will week, please state this at the time of making the appointment so we can advise you if we have any appointments left as they will be booked on a first come first served basis.
