Nurses warn of care home challenges
A study undertaken by The Royal College of Nursing (RCN) of 600 nurses working in care homes has found that almost four in 10 (38%) feel that the homes are understaffed. While a quarter (26%) do not believe they have the adequate equipment or medical supplies.
Almost half of the nurses surveyed (48%) said their homes are already accepting residents from hospital, with acute care needs to fill empty places, despite concerns about the levels of care.
