Our Legal 500 2023 UK rankings

  • Posted

The Directors at Crombie Wilkinson Solicitors are once again delighted to announce that the firm's skill in Private Client, Agricultural & Estates work has been acknowledged by our fourth year in a row admission to The Legal 500 2023 United Kingdom Edition as a leading law firm.

This demonstrates our continued experience and expertise in this specialist area and is an acknowledgement of the work by the team acting for landed estates, private trusts, landowners and individual farmers.

We are also very pleased to have Amy Clarkson, Head of Agriculture and Landed Estates, named as a Rising Star and Neil Largan, Director and Head of Dispute Resolution, listed as a Leading Mediator, in what is his first year of submission for entry to The Legal 500, a great achievement.

Amy deals with all areas of commercial property but specialises in rural and agricultural property, advising on commercial sales & purchases and advising on secured lending.

Being from an agricultural background herself, Amy has first-hand experience of the farming industry, which gives her a real understanding and knowledge of her farming client’s issues and concerns.

Amy deals with all aspects of rural property, including purchases and sales of farms and large rural properties, secured lending and financing arrangements, overage agreements, deeds of easements, adverse possession, estate development and agricultural tenancy work.

Neil’s practice areas include Commercial & Civil Dispute Resolution, Employment Law and Insolvency. He undertakes mediations (Commercial, Employment and Workplace) all across England.

He is one of only a small number of solicitors in North Yorkshire who have been awarded the prestigious Higher Rights of Audience (Civil) qualification by the Law Society. He has also been awarded three separate Mediation accreditations namely in Commercial/Civil, Employment/Workplace and Interpersonal Mediation.

The Legal 500 United Kingdom is the leading guide to law firms and solicitors in the UK, ranking law firms and listing leading individuals by location and practice area to help others make an informed choice. Every firm ranked in the UK Legal 500 UK Solicitors guide is 'recommended'.

The rankings of The Legal 500 reflect the very detailed analysis of law firm submissions and thousands of interviews, conducted by The Legal 500 team of experienced researchers in accordance with their strict guidelines.

Our submission recognised ‘The firm is one of two North East practices on the National Farmers’ Union panel, and its workload predominantly involves acting for landed estates and private trusts, landowners, and individual farmers on complex, high-value contentious and non-contentious matters. In particular, the Malton office specialises in advising on diversification projects, agricultural tenancies, tax planning and succession matters.

Our submission was strengthened by testimonials which included ‘Proactive team with quick responses to emerging matters’, ‘Attention-to-detail and timely follow up’ and ‘A well-known and long-standing legal firm operating in North Yorkshire. A multi-disciplined firm with a strong agricultural and estates team. Active in the agricultural community and strong advocates of the sector.’
