York Wills Solicitors

Our Will solicitors in the York area can help you clearly set out your final wishes, make your estate as tax efficient as possible, and ensure important matters such as who will look after your children are dealt with.

If you are concerned that a deceased loved one’s Will is not being properly dealt with, it is invalid, or you do not agree with the way inheritance has been distributed, we can also help you challenge a Will.

Probate Solicitors

Losing a loved one is an emotionally fraught time. As an appointed Executor or the deceased’s close relative, you will be responsible for sorting out the estate, either according to the Will or the Rules of Intestacy (if the deceased did not leave a Will). When you are grieving it is understandable to feel overburdened.

Our solicitors in York can help you through this challenging time. We can provide as much or as little support as you need – from obtaining the Grant of Probate (if there is a Will) or Letters of Representation (if there is no Will), to paying Inheritance Tax, to distributing inheritance to the beneficiaries.

Power of Attorney

Everyone should have the right to make their own decisions about their life as far as they are able. However, unfortunately, there may come a time – perhaps due to old age, brain injury, or illness such as dementia – that we lose the mental capacity to take care of our own finances or health.

To prepare for this possibility, our York solicitors can help you make a Lasting Power of Attorney to appoint a trusted loved one to make decisions for you in case you lose the ability to do so yourself in the future.
