Register of Overseas Entities

  • Posted

Legal Update: The Register of Overseas Entities came into force on 1 August 2022, with the aim of making UK property ownership by foreign companies and entities clearer and more transparent. Generally speaking, foreign companies and entities who own, intend to purchase, or in some cases previously owned registerable UK property, will need to take action to register with Companies House.

This change in the law is not only relevant to foreign companies and entities themselves who own or are dealing with registerable UK property, but also where you may be buying, selling or leasing registerable UK property to or from a foreign entity.

If you think you may be affected by the new rules, get in touch with our friendly Property Team for more information.
