Celebrating a far-reaching York – now and for our future

Wednesday 30 November 2022 sees the final event of the York Business Festival month take place – an opportunity for a look to the future and a great networking opportunity.

Closing out the inspirational and motivational York Business Festival 2022 is this free to attend informal networking event co-hosted by the City of York Economic Growth team and Crombie Wilkinson Solicitors.

The event takes place in the magnificent Great Hall of Merchant Adventurers’ Hall, Fossgate in York.

Enjoy a welcome drink and canapes courtesy of the event hosts from 5.30pm – 6pm.
(with a paying bar available for the rest of the event)

At 6pm Helen Simpson OBE, Chair of York & North Yorkshire Local Enterprise Partnership and Cllr Keith Aspden, Leader of York City Council, will give a 15 minute update to the event guests about the biggest opportunity we have as a region and businesses to really shape our economy both internally and externally to the rest of the world – the Devolution project.

A devolution deal has been proposed for York and North Yorkshire. The deal includes the choice to directly elect a mayor for York and North Yorkshire. The mayor would have £540m mayoral investment fund, along with new powers and funding and would form a direct a relationship with central government to champion our region. A Mayoral Combined Authority would use its funding to improve transport, adult education, increase affordable housing and to support climate friendly business growth.
But what does this all really mean for businesses? Helen Simpson OBE, Chair of the York & North Yorkshire LEP will share her thoughts on why devolution is a good idea for every business and why the business voice needs to be heard in its implementation, starting with the consultation that runs from 21st October to 16th December.

Then from 6.20 – 7.30pm, guests can take the time to mingle and catch up with the great people in business we have in and around our wonderful city of York. There is always something we can all learn and take into our own lives from listening to what other people have done.

Book your place at this event and be part of York Business Festival 2022 and beyond.

We are launching the event with 150 guest places available so do not delay in booking your place via Eventbrite, we expect demand to attend this event to be high.
