Promotions and welcome to new team members

Residential conveyancing specialist Adele Holliday, at our Malton office, has been promoted to Head of Residential Conveyancing and has become an Associate Director from 1 May 2021.

I am very proud to say that this marks another new chapter in our evolution”, said Managing Director Duncan Morter. “Adele will be the first non-solicitor Director at Crombie Wilkinson. I am very pleased for Adele, and proud that we as a firm have this modern outlook to management.”

Sharon Richardson, legal expert in private client and elderly client services, has also been promoted to Head of Department in Private Client, taking over from Richard Watson who will remain as Senior Director and continue to act on behalf of his clients and undertake key networking activities in York.

Richard Watson, Senior Director said “Sharon is a long-serving Director following our recruitment of her 17 years ago. She will successfully bring her energies and abilities to this new role as Head of the department and take the team forward in the future. We wish her well in her new role, we know we and our clients are in safe hands with Sharon.”

As we continue to develop our people through our Career Progression Programme, many congratulations also go to Amy Clarkson, Paige Phillips and Matthew Railton who have all been promoted to Associate following the latest round of promotion applications with effect from 1 May 2021.

These promotions show the clear and strategic focus by the firm on career progression for individuals and succession planning for the firm.

By staying focused on being the best law firm we can be for their clients and our staff, whilst delivering on two of our key values of being client centred and continuous improvement, we had no hesitation in awarding these new promotions. They come not long after we awarded eight promotions across our four offices in North Yorkshire at the end of 2020 following the introduction of our all-inclusive, merit-based and fair for all career progression programme at the end 2019.

Whilst we were sad to have said goodbye to John Ellis at the end of April when he retired, after 51 years working in law, we are very pleased to welcome Martina Baloch to our Ryedale offices to act for clients on private client services such as Wills, Lasting Power of Attorney, Trusts and Probate advice. She will work alongside Bethany Foster to provide these important legal services for individuals in Pickering and Ryedale.

Martina will be supported by secretary Liz Jones who recently joined our office at Pickering along with Sue Summers, secretary for the commercial property team and to support Isobel Willoughby, Head of the Pickering office.
