We are looking for a Residential Property Legal Adviser to work at our York office. You will provide expert legal advice and representation in residential property matters, aligned with departmental and firm-wide goals. Support team development, uphold professional standards, and contribute to business growth.

The role reports to the Head of Department/Directors.

The role is in our Residential Property team, working at our York office, it is a hybrid working role.

Responsibilities

  • Support Directors in delivering firm-wide strategy.
  • Ensure Residential Property work aligns with firm policies and departmental standards.
  • Provide high-quality, timely legal service and client communication.
  • Manage own caseload and assist colleagues with advice and representation.
  • Maintain professional standards and regulatory compliance (e.g. SRA).
  • Record and develop professional competencies.
  • Promote the firm internally and externally.
  • Act with integrity, sound judgment, and client focus.
  • Stay informed on law, funding, and compliance.
  • Follow internal systems (case management, audits, due diligence, time recording).
  • Meet billing targets and manage credit control.
  • Maximise profitability and minimise waste.
  • Collaborate effectively with staff and stakeholders.
  • Support staff performance and development.
  • Engage with community and promote the firm.
  • Participate in meetings and share best practice.
  • Uphold equality and diversity.

Skills

  • Strong academic background; qualified Solicitor, Licensed Conveyancer or ILEX with at least 5 years PQE
  • Fee earning experience and familiarity with professional partnerships and LLPs
  • Knowledge of firm operations, people, finances, and strategic objectives
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; persuasive and confident presenter
  • Strong organisational, numerical, and financial skills
  • Ability to multitask, manage time, and meet deadlines under pressure
  • Builds effective relationships with clients, colleagues, and external stakeholders
  • Proficient in IT systems, including desktop and case management tools
  • Demonstrates legal expertise and applies specialist knowledge
  • Makes sound decisions, shows initiative, and takes responsibility
  • Leads by example; motivates, empowers, and supports others
  • Promotes ethics, integrity, and equal opportunities
  • Works collaboratively and fosters team spirit
  • Adapts to change, handles stress, and embraces new ideas
  • Learns quickly, retains information, and solves problems analytically
