Our fundraising activities for charity

  • Posted

Each year we choose a charity at each of our offices to support and raise funds for for a 12 month period. Our staff were asked to nominate charities they would like to be considered and these were voted on to pick a chosen charity for each office.

The four charities we are currently raising funds for are:

Pickering office – Scarborough Whitby Ryedale MIND

Scarborough, Whitby and Ryedale Mind is a registered charity providing advice and support to adults with mental health problems in Scarborough, Whitby and Ryedale since 1965. Their Vision is a community where everyone with mental ill health experiences compassion, opportunities, support and respect.

Their Mission is to work in partnership to ensure that people with mental ill health in Scarborough, Whitby and Ryedale have access to personalized support that empowers and enriches their lives. They work to raise awareness and educate our community about mental health. To find out more visit their website at http://swrmind.org.uk/who-we-are.html

York office – Smiley Riley

The Smiley Riley Fund UK is a non-profit making organisation that makes donations to families and carer’s of children having chemotherapy to help with their living and travel costs during their children's treatment. The fund is in memory of Riley Plant a courageous boy who suffered from a rare ATRT brain tumour and inspired his family to help others like him after seeing how cancer and chemotherapy has a devastating effect on each families lives. Riley never lost his smile but did lose his battle with cancer. To find out more visit their website at http://www.thesmileyrileyfund.co.uk/

Malton office – Yorkshire Air Ambulance

It may surprise you to know that the Yorkshire Air Ambulance Charity relies on the generosity of individuals and organisations to help save lives across Yorkshire. As a Charity they only receive help through secondment of paramedics from the NHS, through Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust. To keep both of Yorkshire’s air ambulances in the air they need to raise £12,000 per day, equivalent to £4.4 million per year. As a rapid response air emergency service the Charity serves a population of approximately 5 million people across 4 million acres.

The swift medical interventions provided by our Air Ambulance crews have a major impact on a patient’s chance of survival and subsequent quality of life. Yorkshire has a vast topography that not only includes remote, rural and densely populated areas but also includes major motorways and road networks such as the M62, M1, A1 and M18. Selby office – Young Minds

Young Minds is the UK’s leading charity committed to improving the wellbeing and mental health of children and young people. They are leading the fight for a future where all young minds are supported and empowered, whatever the challenges. They are there to make sure young people get the best possible mental health support and have the resilience to overcome life’s difficulties.

The crisis in children and young people’s mental health is real and it is urgent. More children and young people than ever before are reaching out for help with their mental health. But for those who take that brave step, help is much too hard to find. Together, we are changing this. We’re fighting for young people’s mental health. To find out more about the work they do visit their website at https://youngminds.org.uk/about-us/who-we-are/

Keep an eye out for the fundraising activities we will be doing over the next year, it will be great to have as much support along the way as we can get!
