The Lasting Impact of a Gift in Your Will

When people make a Will, their first priority is usually protecting the people they love. But for some, it's also an opportunity to leave a lasting legacy that continues to make a difference long into the future.

Through our partnership with Cancer Research UK and the Free Will Scheme, we've recently seen first-hand just how significant that impact can be.

During a recent update from Cancer Research UK, we learnt that gifts pledged through the scheme have already generated more than £1.2 million for the charity. That's funding that will help support life-saving research, innovative treatments and hope for people affected by cancer.

The impact doesn't stop there.

Over the last few years, our teams have also administered estates where Cancer Research UK was named as a beneficiary. Through those estates alone, we have helped facilitate the transfer of more than £4.7 million to the charity, with a further £2 million currently expected from ongoing estate administrations.

To put that into perspective, Cancer Research UK told us that this amount is equivalent to approximately one-third of the annual cost of running one of its major cancer research centres.

Behind every one of those figures is a person who chose to leave a gift that could help future generations. It's a powerful reminder that a Will can do more than protect your family. It can help create a future where more people survive cancer.
